Sled Dogs
In the midsts of the blizzard of '08, I saw golden opportunity for fun. My dogs should be sled dogs. They could happily tow me about the small borough of Hohokus with smiling faces while i sipped some sort of warmed whiskey from an engraved flask that i do not yet own but hope to one day.

They would make amazing sled dogs. Otis alone could pull a toboggan containing a small family (on flat land...uphill is far too much to ask). He is all muscle and skull. Buka is not cut form the same herculean cloth as Otis, but she is tenacious. She will go as far as it takes to annoy. She is an eternal spring of energy. I could delight neighborhood children with free sleigh rides by a dog pulled sled...and i would replace the whips usually used on dog sleds with cotton scarves to warm all who rode the sled with me (as whips are unnecessary since my dogs are self-starters, highly motivated, and detail oriented)
But then i remembered that my dogs are completely untrained and mostly bad. It is very likely they would crash me into the first tree they saw, or drag me off the beaten path in pursuit of what they thought was a squirrel or a swirling leaf.
so i am staying inside and enjoying a nice warm fire while they attack snowflakes and cute stuffed animals. (- :

They look so happy, playing in the photos. Woohoo loved running around in it too, but Woofer made me carry him around while LaDee sniffed.

My dog (happy in doggie heaven) used to LOVE romping in the snow. He would leap around and use his nose to scoop and toss snow in the air and then eat it. A magnificent maneuver that was never replicated in his less-than-graceful aquatic adventures or mundane sit and paw-shake accomplishments. Snow brings out the best in puppies!
